Claudio Puntin (b. 1965) \u2014 improviser, clarinetist, composer, goldsmith, painter, performer. The sensuality and soulfulness of improvising people have inspired him since his first musical steps. He has retained his playful instinct, turning his clarinet into his keyboard, his drums, and his sound processor, creating works for orchestras, choirs, ensembles, and electronics. Through his playing, he reminds us that we are all sensual and social beings who enjoy creativity in order to be together in health, peace, and soulfulness. As a young man, Claudio Puntin played folk music on harmonica with his brother and father at farm festivals in Italy's Friuli region. At age nine he began playing clarinet, and from 1981 to 1985 trained as a goldsmith at the Lucerne School of Jewelry Design. From 1987 to 1993 he studied clarinet, bass clarinet, jazz, and contemporary music in Cologne and Rotterdam, regularly attending masterclasses with Sergiu Celibidache. He founded various ensembles, including the Schorn Puntin Duo, the Claudio Puntin Trio, \"Essence of North,\" and the World Clarinet Quartet. His concert suite \"AROMA,\" for clarinet, bass clarinet, electronics, and orchestra, was premiered in 2016 by Finnish conductor Osmo V\u00e4nsk\u00e4 with the Minnesota Orchestra. In 2011 he founded the electro-acoustic trio Ambiq with Samuel Rohrer and Max Loderbauer. Since 2013 he has served as composer in residence and artistic director of the Tonspuren Festival in Irsee.<\/p>\n \n
